10 BENEFITS OF BEING HIGHLY SENSITIVE

What’s so great about being sensitive?

Let’s be honest, sensitivity rarely gets the praise it deserves.  The label “sensitive” is often used in a negative way in our society.  Have you or your child ever been told that you are “too sensitive?” High Sensitivity is a trait that is commonly misunderstood, because there isn’t much discussion about the topic; however it affects 15-20 percent of the population.

As a parent, it is easy to get caught up in the challenges and frustrations that come with parenting a highly sensitive child (HSC); however if you can shift your thinking and take time to focus on all the amazing qualities of your sensitive child you can really begin to appreciate what an asset sensitivity can be.  We need to teach our children that being highly sensitive is not a burden, but rather a blessing.  It is not only a positive quality, but a beneficial one as well!  Highly sensitive people make the world a better, more interesting place. Next time you or your child needs a reminder of why highly sensitive kids are so awesome check out these 10 benefits of being highly sensitive and start celebrating!

advantages of being highly sensitive

1. You are creative.

Whether your interest is in drawing, painting, singing, writing, dancing, acting, building, sculpting, cooking, crafting, clay, photography, or another chosen art form, you are very talented in channeling your creativity.  Your sensitive nature allows you to successfully tap into your inner self and express it through a creative outlet.

2. You are a fabulous friend.

While it can sometimes be challenging for you to find the right friends, once you do, they usually become a friend for life.  You are respectful and genuine in your friendships.  You care deeply about them and try your best not to hurt their feelings.

3. You can’t be fooled.

You are very aware of your surroundings and how others are feeling. The ability to sense when something isn’t quite right in your environment and with certain people, comes naturally. You pick up on things that others often miss and can sense when people are not being sincere.
